Congratulations to the new President of the United States!!!
YYYYYAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!! it's a brand new day!!!
the first thing i thought about was my little sister who recently told me that at her school, this black girl was arguing with this white girl and the white girl starting playing/swishing her hair around talking about "well, i'm white" in a proud haughty way. i was so baffled, like wtf. now all i can think about is her being able to get on her school bus with her head up VERY HIGH. that little white girl can OBVIOUSLY shove her whiteness up where the sun does shine. thank you Obama!! I'm just so happy
I'm so happy! (And wired from the free cup of Starbuck's coffee---next time I'll stick to with a scone.) To celebrate, my sister and I are adopting a family for Thanksgiving. We are sooooooo happy! We're seeing if we can go to the inaugural ball.
Im 20 years old and I never thought I would live to see something like this. Geesh I can't stop crying !!!! But at the same time it the Mccain supporters are saying some awful things. Smh

Mary, something similar happened to me with a white woman. I was in my car one day and I was backing out and I did not see her dart out of nowhere. Well I stopped the car right in time. This heffer had the nerve to get angry and say "hey you better watch yourself your f...ing car" so I said sorry I did not see you. So she said something smart and I called her a bitch (although I know I should not have)...Well anyway she stopped and said yeah I am a bitch, I am a white bitch and dont you forget it! Back then she could say that and she could feel some meaning to it. Today she would not have made a comment like that..I would be like and ???? But white women cant have that kind of attitude with the President of the US being black and married to a black woman...a REAL black woman.
I am so proud to where I am today and to see this historical moment. This will forever change the course of history, polictics, and how we view each other. For the first time in a long time, i love my president. Im proud of who we represents, which is us...the american people.
My body is still in flight mode since last night. My head is spinning from all this news. Praise God and continue to keep Obama & his family in your prayers.
If you plan on attending the Inauguration, tickets for the Inaugural swearing-in ceremony will be distributed in January 2009by both Senators and Representatives of the 111th Congress. Call your Senator's today or contact them to get yours. My family and I are looking forward to this phenomenal and historic moment, we can't wait.
Honestly, after this, I just feel like no one should be trying to use the color/race card because he is now proof that color shouldn’t matter. For some that do, that’s on them. For a African-American woman, my parents didn’t raise me that way. Sure, there’s racism…it’s everywhere, but let’s not keep using it as a crutch every time a POC comes across some misfortune. It’s time to look at every thing a little different now at least.
ava, that is so bold, how dare she. and people wonder why i can't stand ww/wfemales in general, they really believe their ish smells like coco chanel #5 or something. that's why i'm so happy with michelle cause obama honors her so much. just the way he looks and holds her, you can tell he loves her. which makes us all look good, especially with nonsense shows like New York and Real Chance of Love that tarnish our images

Somehow these words do not ring true to me as being the words of a black woman...
something is NOT quite right here...and honestly, I have never heard BW speak of using a "color/race card"....or using race as a "crutch."
I'm just saying!
Anyway..this still does not diminish in any way my euphoria in the way our country voted for an extraordinary man to be our new PROPERLY elected leader....Democracy at its finest...
President and Mrs. Obama however, has a BEAUTIFUL ring to it...that part is TRUE at least.

I agree with this. My father who is a Nigerian immigrant and my mother who is African American told me this when I was growing up. There is no excuse why you shouldn't be able to succeed. He came to this country with not a lot and went to school and worked his way up and provided for his family. My parents are doing well because of this and have raised 6 children. My brothers, my younger sister and I are doing the best in the family. Of all the girls, I'm doing the best because I chose to go to school before going on to meet and marry my husband who embodies all the qualities that my father has that I love.
I'm very happy with the outcome of this election because it can show that now there really isn't any excuse for not doing well, other than the fact that you've bought into the idea that you can't. The only obstacles in your way are the ones you allow to be there.
I am not trying to make up any excuses; however, we still have adults who did not receive a good foundation as far as an education is concerned and many of these peopole are still lacking in the educational area.
Yes, most still can over come a terrible educational system...I did not say it would be easy.
ava, that is so bold, how dare she. and people wonder why i can't stand ww/wfemales in general, they really believe their ish smells like coco chanel #5 or something. that's why i'm so happy with michelle cause obama honors her so much. just the way he looks and holds her, you can tell he loves her. which makes us all look good, especially with nonsense shows like New York and Real Chance of Love that tarnish our images
Yeah Mary and a girlfriend of mine said that her white coworkers (women) were saying that he chose to be black when he chose that black woman...LOL
We couldn't even get a newpaper with his picture down here! People waited for hours to get one and they kept selling out before we could get one! Now I hear they are selling on ebay for up to 600.00! Even other countries are celebrating this great American victory.... Truly God must have his arms around him....I'm soooo happy, and a bw as FIRST LADY!!! hooray!!!
I don't about you all, but I have been checking out the secret service men in the dark shades. Goodness, those are some healthy looking wm! I want a bodyguard :)
Obama's presidency is a great thing. I have never felt so excited about voting before until Tuesday's election. It was great that my family was active and excited about voting (my mother even volunteered at polls where she lived) as well.
May I just say this, and if you will indulge me for a moment.
A beautiful smart black woman is about to become America's (and the World's) First Lady....what this means, is that we (BW) ALL have become the First Lady, and we ALL have to pull our socks up....WAY UP!
Part of this means being gracious..and forgiving, and willing (within reason) to give someone the benefit of the doubt. I am not speaking of the world of DBR bm, I am speaking of other woman. Now is NOT the time to seek the enmity of ww..(or any woman really) Clearly MANY of our ww sisters voted for President Elect Obama (LOVE to write that)...so let us let bygones be bygones. We have to get to know each better NOW...and love each other as women NOW..we have so much in common that bypasses skin color..
That is the position I am coming from. I am for Black women, AND women in general...that includes ww....until someone ( a specific individual) gives me a reason to think otherwise....
I welcome the friendship of all decent, upstanding citizens..
We have to work together. Now is not the time to remember every slight, every ill spoken word to us.
I am just so happy! The only words that come to mind are Thank God for this time of renewal and rebirth. This is a fresh start!
Now is the time to step up our game - bring the A game or stay home. No more tolerating or settling for mediocrity - expect the best from people and set the example. Emulate Michelle's style, grace, dignity and sense of inner peace. she is clearly working internally from a place of strength, peace and contentment. That will be required to as Delish and others have said to give others, not DBR's the benefit of the doubt and remain positive. Often times the biggest block to success is giving ground on what your hearts desire is for what you want right now! Let's aim for a long term success - in this brand new day and keep our focus as women on the prize. Thank you Sara for this positive place to gather and support one another and to the words of inspiration from one and all
"Yeah Mary and a girlfriend of mine said that her white coworkers (women) were saying that he chose to be black when he chose that black woman...LOL"
man...Ava, how do you do it, i would be so annoyed (it's bad enough that i'm naturally annoyed at them in the first place) but with comments like that, i mean seriously, urgh!! i would be DONE, no more sucking it up with the painful small talks, no more nothing, i would be done
"ava said... I personally dont know too many people who use race as a crutch for not getting ahead.
I am relatively successful. Yes being prepared helps but there is racism out there. I hate when foreign blacks generalize about american blacks!"
Funny that, seeing as how you pretty much just generalised all other non_american blacks(all over 1 billion of them). Maybe you should give yourself the lesson before you start lecturing anyone else about generalising!!!
That said, as much as I am pleased that Obama is prezzo, I'll be honest, I'm even more pleased that we've got a black first lady. I don't care what anyone says, I may luve in britain, but that chick is my FIRST LADY!
Ava, why do you think you should not have called that dumb White woman a B? She disrespected you did'nt she? So why should you hold back or care about her stupid feelings? She DESERVED to be called that. Ava, please don't put them White women on a pedastal, they ain't nobody! And frankly, your laughing at what those other dumb White heifers said about our FIRST LADY Mrs Michelle Obama seems out of line. I see NOTHING funny about that mess! Delish, your constant "I am for ALL woman" rhetoric is becoming very tiresome to say the least. HOW can you talk all of that inter-racial sisterhood crap when Mary just got through telling us how some White girl tried to belittle a Black girl by shoving her precious White femaleness down that poor young sistas throat? That little brat KNEW doing that would hurt the young sista, and that's why she did it! so I don't want to hear none of that "We all are woman" jive cause ain't NONE of them other race chicks got a sista's back! We sistas need to look out for EACH OTHER period!
People need to check their White women protectionism, cause it's SERIOUSLY out of control, just like that great dude Harry Potter over at the WWS blog says!
